A coating is only as good as the slab underneath it. Before any epoxy or polyaspartic system goes down, we diagnose and fix the concrete — cracks, moisture, and surface contamination — so the finish bonds and stays bonded.
Crack Repair & Joint Filling
Hairline cracks and control joints are filled with a flexible polyurea or epoxy filler that moves with the slab instead of telegraphing back through the coating. Larger structural cracks are assessed before we proceed — some require repair beyond cosmetic filling.
Moisture Testing
Excess moisture vapor trapped in concrete is one of the most common causes of coating failure — bubbling, delamination, peeling. We test slab moisture before installation and recommend a moisture-mitigating primer when levels run high, which is common in older Michigan garages without a vapor barrier.
Diamond Grinding & Surface Profile
Coatings need a mechanically profiled surface to bond — not just a clean one. We diamond-grind the slab to open the pores of the concrete and remove old sealers, paint, or efflorescence, then vacuum the dust so the prep itself doesn't contaminate the new coating.
